Our History
SAVAC Since 1969
What started as a quick ride to the hospital with basic first aid has now evolved into a a complex emergency medical services agency providing advanced life support services.  A virtual "emergency room on wheels".

In the late 1960's a group of area businessmen identified a need for an ambulance in the St. Johnsville area.  Prior to this time, the local undertaker provided the service with a herse.

In 1969 the St. Johsville Volunteer Amublance Corp. Inc. (SAVAC) was established.  Service was provided initially with a pontiac ambulance and personnel certified in basic first aid.  As the years progressed so did the need for better equipment and better training.  The first year of service SAVAC responded to approximately 150 calls for service.  In 2006 SAVAC responded to 750 calls for service.  We are projecting more that 800 calls for 2007.

Today SAVAC operates two 2006 McCoy Miller advanced life support ambulances.  Both are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment.  12 lead EKG monitors, portable transport ventilators, CPAP, and much more.  We are a "full service" agency.
